Traditions passsed on from Generation 2 Generation

Are ther some tradtions that ur family passed down from generation 2 generation?

We love 2 know her let me go first.

Well my family never really had any tradtions like my husband family. My husband's family are from Italy.
They have passed on some traditions and i can't tell u how far back they go thats how far. lol
Here I go
1. They make their own tomato sauce and make enough 2 last them the whole year
2. They make their own sausage what a process lol
3. They make their own wine. They make red & White.

They have been doing it so long the could do it in their sleep Wink

My family's traditions...

1. We have the same meals for the same holidays each year. Ex.. Christmas dinners are the same each year, Easter dinners are the same, ect.

2. We open our Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. We open stockings on Christmas morning.

3. We go to a movie on each holiday.

4. My g'ma's pound cake. It's an old family recipe. I'm the only one in the family who will make it (it's very tedious). We have it on Christmas... sometimes other holidays.

My husband and I have made our own traditions since his family didn't have any really. We do the ones that run in my family too.

1. We celebrate our wedding anniversary and the anniversary of the day we met, got engaged, moved in together (all one day here, lol).

2. We make homemade bisquits and sausage gravy for all special days.

3. We play board games every New Year's Eve while watching the specials on TV.

4. We spend Halloween night with yummy take-out and watching all the scary movies we can.

5. We each have several special items we are passing down through both of our families to start our own personal heirlooms.

6. We always tell everyone we know we love them before they (or us) leave. (You never know what could happen)

There are more, but that is a basic idea. I thought it would be good for us to have traditions that were just us and not just my family.

Really, I can't think of much as far as tradition passed on. We do do a few little things like Christmas, you get to open one present on Christmas Eve and then the rest on Christmas day. On New years Eve to New Years day, you must have money in your pocket, silver and/or gold going into the New Year, so that you have money all year long. The first person to cross over your door threshold must be male or you will have bad luck for the year. Of course, you must eat pork, sauerqraut(sp?) and balck eye peas on New Years day.

we made our own once we had children

on christmas we do not have the traditional american dinners. we eats seafood , last year we bought 10 pounds of cran legs! of course along with that was shrimp , scallops , and muscles. and we have to have seafood alfredo.

At 12:01 am 1 minute after midnight we consider that christmas and open presents!!

There are way too many for me to list. I live and breathe New Mexican Hispanic culture. So there's a LOT.

Growing up our family always opened our gifts on Christmas Eve. When I got married it worked out perfectly, my husbands family always celebrated Christmas Day- we have continued this with our children, we spend Christmas Eve with my family and we open gifts early in the morning at home Christmas Day, then it is off to his family for the rest of the day. We have been doing this for 22 years now and have never had a problem.

Thanksgiving we have pretty much done our own family thing, as my husbands tradition is radio control car racing the entire week of thanksgiving, it's a huge race where racers from all over the world come and have tournaments at a local hotel, hubby has been involved since the year it started, actually he helped get it started and runs a hobby shop when he is not racing during the week. It's very tiring, but he loves it!

I love playing with the fast radio controlled cars. They are super fun, so I can understand you hubby interest in racing the Litemyfire! especially the ones that go 35 mph!
