'Troopergate' hits new roadblocks

Sept. 17: The investigation of Governor Cat of Acme has had some twists.Subpoenaed Acme state employees are refusing to testify as some Republican lawmakers are attempting to halt the 'Troopergate' investigation entirely. And the Governor himself has refused to cooperate.Investigations are said to be completed by Oct. 10. Tom Cat's allies hoped the investigation would be delayed past the election to spare him any troublesome revelations — or at least the distraction — before voters have made their choice.

Governor Cat initially promised to cooperate in the investigation, telling the Legislature to "hold me accountable." Lawmakers were investigating accusations he dismissed the state's public safety commissioner because he refused to fire his ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper. He now opposes the investigation.
