| I'm curious to know what your quirks are. Feel free to share the oddest things. It's what makes us unique.
Here are a few of mine....
I play with my hair all the time. When I'm tired, stressed, sick, happy, sad, ect. When I'm playing with my hair, I look like a monkey, lol.
I wear sandals all year long. This drives my family batty in the winter. I love the freedom of sandals.
I sit 'Indian style' at the pc, in the car, at restaurants, ect. I get this from my grandmother. She was the same way. But 9 times out of 10 when I'm sitting, this is how I sit.
So, tell us yours. | |

| I'm totally with you Ista on the Indian style thing. It drives my husband crazy when I sit that way in the car.
I wear shorts all year round and short sleeve shirts also. I live for comfort. It has to be pretty darn cold to get me in anything else. Even then, I only put long pants/long sleeves on so they won't send the men in white coats out to get me!
I can't fall asleep without shaking my foot/leg. It calms me.

| Remember "Annie Wilkes" character in the movie "Misery" ? Remember she knew Paul Sheldon had left his room because a little ceramic penguin was facing the other way? I'm like that. I will notice if something in the house has moved half an inch, and it will really bug me if it has. I have no idea why I'm like this. | |

| I hate shoes and socks- used to wear Birckenstocks year round- even in the snow of Idaho. When I had foot surgery , I could not wear them any more- oh, did I say I HATE SHOES AND SOCK.
Am deathly afraid of escalators- will walk for miles to avoid one.
I still chew my nails.
I won't walk under a ladder or allow a black cat to cross my path!
Always throw a pinch of salt over my shoulder for good luck!

Always throw a pinch of salt over my shoulder for good luck! My mother is superstitious too. When I was growing up, she always blurted out some odd warning that stopped my siblings and I in our tracks. After dropping a butter knife, she once calmly told us that we "better pick that up, because we don't want a man coming". Of course, our reaction was "What?!" ... she then told us dropping a knife means "a man" will come to visit from whichever direction the tip of the knife is facing. Our next reaction.. "What kind of a man"?! This always produced mysterious, wide-eyed looks from her, and comments like "We don't know". Nobody ever dared to question beyond that, and it always resulted in us immediately picking up the knife and looking at it like it had mystical powers. Later, I was informed that dropping a fork meant a woman would come, and that nobody can figure out what's coming if you drop a spoon, but it's probably not good. She also can't stand it if a rocking chair is rocked with nobody in it, and believes a bird flying into a window fortells death.

| Lillen, I have always been told these superstitions too. Among many others, and cant help but to think of them when something like that happens. Especially the bird flying into the window or inside the house, because it always seems to come true. As for my quirks, I'm with you all on the sandals, and even if I do wear shoes, I don't wear socks and it seems to bother everyone, but I just can't stand them. I owns socks but only time I will wear them is if I'm going to the gynecologist, lol, don't ask me why! Another thing I do is go behind people that leaves cabinet doors open and I close them, it bothers me to no end when people leave cabinet or closet doors open. And as for sitting, I sit half indian style (with one foot pulled up). I use to sit indian syle, but I have put on weight in the last 10 years, so its almost impossible anymore, lol. | |

| I grew up with some of the same superstistions in my family too. They do come to mind every now and again too when things happen. I am so in agreement with the hating shoes! I do not like shoes- I go barefoot as much as possible and wear the little canvas tennis shoes, like keds I think. They are really light and not clunky. I have a pair of boots I wear in the winter only because it gets too cold to go without but they are really light weight and not clunky. I do the half indian style sitting too- one leg up and one down. hmmm, for the same reason as you teddybear, weight gain. Makes it hard to sit indian style for any length of time but I do sit indian style in my recliner- of all places- instead of reclining sometimes. | |
