Declining Dollar Empty
PostSubject: Declining Dollar   Declining Dollar Icon_minitimeSun Jun 22, 2008 8:09 pm

The value of a dollar continues to decline. Over the past several years, it's fallen more and more behind other currencies.

The dollar has fallen sharply, about 30 percent, against the euro during this past year. At the moment, one has to pay about $1.24 for each euro, while three years ago one only had to pay about 80 cents for a euro, but at the beginning of 1999 the euro cost about $1.15. The dollar has also fallen in recent months against the British pound, the Japanese yen and many other currencies, but as much as it fell against the euro.

What do you guys think about this? Do you have an idea on how to solve this issue? Are you concerned about the drop in value of a dollar? Do you care?

Declining Dollar Empty

I think this is something that everyone should be concerened about. It shows what poor economical state our country is in. Our dollar value has always been higher than other countries. To see it decline so much is very alerting to our position in the world.

All of this problem has been created since Bush took office 8 years ago. (Sorry if this offended any Bush Lovers out there). This is how I see it. We were in great condition and had a a surpluss of 3 trillion dollars when Bush took office. We are now so far in debt because of him that it will take a long time to come out of it. I realize that most of our debt is now from the war overseas. A war that we were told was about one thing (911) and then Bush turned into something else for his own personal game.

Not to mention Chenney and Bush's close ties with the oil company's. They are getting by with making Millions of dollars of profits a day - YES PROFIT! After everything is paid out of what they recieve, they make multi-millions a day. Please tell me that you can see where this is not right.

From seeing some of the arguments about our economy and the money the Big Oil companies are gaining daily from Americans, all they say is that it is a vicious circle and you can not just make the companies cut the cost of oil per barrel. They state by doing so that it would send us into further trouble then we are already in. I am not so sure I actually believe that myslef. What about the rest of you?

Because I am seeing that the prices of oil being so high is acutally a big part of the problem in the US all the way around. It is affecting everything now, not just gas but ALL things we buy. I think the Oil Companies hsould have a cap put on them as to what they can get out of a barrel of oil, or what the US is willing to pay per barrel. Something definitely needs to be done. I guess the flip side would be that if we capped the oil companies to a certain dollar amount per barrel, they could export to other countries first willing to pay their prices. Then we would truly have a shortage. Which way do we go??? But their prices did not get so extreme until Bush and Chenney backed them.
