The Native American Commandments
The earth is our mother, care for her
Honour all your relations
Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit
All life is sacred; treat all beings with respect
Take from the earth what is needed and nothing more
Do what needs to be done for the good of all
Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day
Speak the truth; but only of the good in others
Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun
Enjoy life’s journey, but leave no tracks

| Go Forward With Courage
When you are in doubt, be still, and wait; when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage. So long as mists envelop you, be still; be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists -- as it surely will. Then act with courage.

| I was reading (in that book I mentioned to you, Donna) that everything is energy and when we eat plants we are absorbing their energy. That sounds like the commandment you mentioned about take from the earth only what is necessary.
Very peaceful commandments. I like incorporating these things into my own life and spirituality.

| I too beleive that ALL living things have their own "life force" or energy. That is why we should respect all things living, and take time to care, nuture, respect and replenish them. In doing so, you will be repaid in multitudes. If everyone were to keep taking and not giving back, then everything would soon be gone, including us. There is alot that can be learned from nature. | |

I love that one, I try to apply that in my life when I don't know which way to go!
